Course Description
Situated in the lush Northumberland countryside lies Morpeth Golf Club one of the north-east's finest.
Designed in 1906 by six-time Open champion Harry Vardon, the 18-hole parkland course is set in 130 acres and offers a golf experience that is as picturesque as it is challenging, with the course often being used for national and county events.
Local golf journalist Paul Corney called the course ''Magnificent Morpeth'', stating: ''It is quite understandable why Morpeth continues to be selected to host both national and county events it's just a cracking golf course.'' After getting a taste of it yourself, it'll be pretty difficult to disagree with his assessment.
It starts simply enough with a 253-yard par-4, but the second hole named 'Quarantine' is almost 200 yards longer and is occasionally into a prevailing wind, meaning a bogey five isn't all that bad a result.
The 16th, at 278 yards, is another driveable par-4 offering great birdie and eagle chances, while the final two holes ensure a memorable climax to the round.
But not only is Morpeth a stunning course, it also offers unrivalled clubhouse facilities
