Course Description
A traditional out-and-back venue along the North Sea coastline in Aberdeenshire, Spey Bay is one of Scotland’s most interesting links courses. Laid out in 1907, it’s said that the raised storm-beach ridges accumulated some 6,000 years ago. The signature hole here is undoubtedly the par-3 8th, which is the furthest hole from the clubhouse and is guarded at the front by a treacherous pot bunker. Spey Bay is a true test of golf, particularly in the winter months.
Located at the mouth of the River Spey on the stunning Moray Firth coastline, Spey Bay Golf Club is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is only minutes from the famous Speyside Way. The course was designed by the legendary Ben Sayers, and it offers challenging tee shots, undulating fairways, and natural green sites. The layout of the course is designed to test your skills while allowing you to enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
Spey Bay is not just about the game; it's about the experience. The coastal setting provides breathtaking views, and the natural landscape adds to the charm of the course. The club has a rich history, with the late Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald being one of its notable members. The magnificent club championship trophy that he received remains at the club, adding a touch of historical significance to your visit.
After a round of golf, visitors can relax in the clubhouse, which offers a full bar and food service. The welcoming atmosphere makes it a perfect spot to unwind and reflect on the day's play.
